What is collected

This is a static site. Reading a page does not require an account, and there is no comment system, no newsletter and no contact form, so there is no place for you to type anything about yourself.

Two things are still collected when you load a page: the request itself, which the web server logs (IP address, time, requested URL, user agent, referrer), and whatever the advertising and analytics scripts described below collect in your browser.

Advertising and cookies

Advertising on this site is served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This is interest-based advertising, sometimes called personalised advertising.

Google AdSense uses the DoubleClick cookie, and equivalent identifiers, to enable it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site, and those vendors may use cookies or web beacons to measure and personalise.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Where required by law, a consent message is shown before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change your choice from the link in the footer of every page.

Analytics

Aggregate traffic figures are read from the web server access log. That log records the IP address of every request, which is why it is used only in aggregate and rotated on a short cycle rather than kept as a history of individual readers.

If a measurement script is added to a page, it will be a first-party measurement of page views, and this section will name it before it is added. No cross-site profile of you is built by this site itself.

Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to be informed about the processing described here, to access any personal data held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

The lawful basis for the server log is legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure. The lawful basis for advertising cookies is consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

Your rights under CCPA/CPRA

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, used, disclosed or sold; the right to delete it; the right to correct it; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

This site does not sell personal information for money. Sharing of identifiers with advertising partners for interest-based advertising may count as "sharing" under the CPRA, and you can opt out of it using the consent choices described above or the Global Privacy Control signal, which this site honours.

Children

This site is written for adults working on songs and is not directed at children under 13. No personal information is knowingly collected from children.
