Demo
Tempo, takes, charts and what to send. Getting the song out of your head without losing it on the way.
The demo exists to be listened to by someone who was not in the room, including you next month. That makes it a documentation job before it is a recording job: tempo written down, key written down, structure written down, and one take that survives being played on a phone speaker.
The entries here are about the parts of finishing that people skip — the vocal-first take, the count-in that saves twenty minutes later, the chart that lets a second person play the song without asking you a single question. None of it is about gear.
